I am writing to show my thanks and gratitude for the cheque I was recently awarded. It is an extremely generous grant to be awarded and I am incredibly grateful to have been chosen. I hope to use it towards my academic costs; such as text books and writing materials, as well as a trip to explore New Zealand during the university holidays. Thank you very much for your generous grant in response to my request for funding for my expedition to Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands. Following your welcome contribution I am pleased to say I have been able to pay World Challenge the final instalment just in time before the due date. As expressed in your letter, the extra sum of the grant will be utilised by the team & I for the purpose of our community project. For this reason, I have enclosed further details about the nature of this project at a small village school, which will be situated in the Amazon Basin. I will happily provide you with photos/comments on the outcome when I return.

I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU for the funding towards my dissertation project in Nisyros! I have just come back from a field class in Spain (funded by the university) where I was training for Nisyros and was awarded with a first for the assessment related to the training. I am writing on behalf of the many children who you have helped this year enjoy their residential trip to Penzance. Some children were helped entirely but most of those helped were subsidised – as parents like to feel they are making a contribution. We took 55 children and all gained enormously. Hope all is well at home, here it is amazing! We’ve done loads of activities at the Askar Camp including building our entire site from logs and rope/string (no nails), canoed in the Fjords and stayed overnight on an island there, with no adult supervision, and got thrown on an overnight hike up a mountain where we left at 11pm and got back at 3 in the morning! Thank you so much for your kind donation towards this trip, it has been very memorable.
